where could the rotten egg smell come from

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.53 PM

I have lived in my house for 11 years now. For the past couple of months I hve been experiencing rotten egg smell on the first floor between the airing cupboard and bedroom which is also next to the bathroom. It's a new build so have had no refurbishment done. The smell sometimes appears when I have the heating on or run the hot water. Sometimes neither of them and the smell still appears. In January this year, I had British Gas out and the fixed a 5 bar water pressure to the main under the sink. Recently in March Anglian water did some ground work which lasted over 3 nights. One night they came across a problem which took them longer to finish within their time scale. I've had this smell come and go for a month now and don't know who to call out. please help.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Waste traps getting sucked out by poorly designed waste system. Usually basin waste teed into bath waste without an anti siphon trap being fitted to the basin. Do you here gurgling when emptying the bath ?
