How easy/how much would it cost to replace an existing bannister.

Hi, Me and my partner are wanting to replace our existing bannister upstairs. We have recently installed a handrail so would like to replace the existing outdated bannister to match a little better. We don't want a ridiculous priced made to measure one but we have found a website that sells what we want (we think). The main question is how easy is it to change, is it something my other half could do himself (he is fairly diy savvy) or would it make life easier and look better if we hired a trades person for the job for a professional finish? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
