Bedroom has reoccurring mould on external wall

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.39 PM

House is 100 year old terrace and has reoccurring mould on external single brick wall.We have tried ventilation, dehumidifier etc.It is so bad,1year old granddaughter can't sleep in there!. Would replastering wall after applying wall sealant both internally and externally and then drywalling to make room warmer remove the problem????

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

no that will only cover up the issue create a further problem ,you building needs to breathe by sealing it your stopping it breathing, best bet is get a local tradesman who deals in older property's and understands how the materials used to build these property s all work to keep the inside dry. good luck Alex

Mould typically grows on moisture created internally, therefore ventilation is the right solution. Air bricks and opening windows won't always solve the problem, and dehumidifiers are more of a short term solution. Ask a ventilation specialist for a free survey, they will be able to recommend a solution for you which will come with a money back guarantee.
