replacement roof over bay window

I want to replace the flat roof of a ground floor bay window with a pitched roof, possibly extending all across the front of the house. It will be supported by gallows brackets at each end to form a canopy rather than an enclosed porch. will I need to get planning permission/building regs?

If you are a listed building,
of conservation area
check with local council building control
