House built of concrete- how to refurb?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.20 PM
Hello all, We have had an offer accepted on what we thought was a Victorian property. However, the survey has shown that much of the property is not brick built, but poured concrete. It must have been repaired after the war. First of all, what are the disadvantages, or benefits, of concrete? Secondly, as we are planning a complete refurb for the house, how will this impact on the work? Will it be more difficult to e.g. install new doors and windows? Or remove internal walls? Will we need specialist builders, or is this a common job? Thank you!
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there, the advantages to concrete are that it is strong if constructed correctly, i see no real disadvantages to this although forming window or door openings will cause a little extra time and work but nothing a good tradesman can't sort out, sorry to hear that you have been mislead on the property. All the best.
