Gas boiler fused spur or 13 amp swicthed plug socket

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.38 PM

On a combi boiler does the boiler need to be connected to a fused spur or can one use a switched 13 amp plug socket, and does the plug socket need to be earthed, also is it acceptable to run the wire next to a hot water pipe from a radiator, finally does the plug socket have to be in the same room as the boiler or can it be on a different floor and in a different room, seen all this today and not happy.

Fused switched spur, earthed, adjacent to boiler, hard wired avoiding any hot pipes, flex from spur to boiler.

Hi, A fused switched spur would be best practice however a plug with suitably rated fuse is ok. Check boiler spec. for correct rating usually 3 or 5 amp . Sited next to boiler and marked.Definitely earthed . Protect from hot pipes as it affects the current carrying capacity of the cable, use a little insulation or chase in .
