Is OK to replace radiators and update boiler and heating system later?

We plan to build an extension later next year so we are putting off installing a new boiler. Is it OK to replace our existing radiators with new radiators to use with our old boiler for the meantime? The reason I ask this is because we are renovating the first floor of our house and want to get mostly everything done so we don't have to do it again. Our boiler is over 20 years old and it is gravity fed with an electrical pump for the heating. The radiators are old single panel radiators. Would be useful to know what the pros and cons of doing this are.

There is no problem with what you asked as long as the new radiators are pressure balanced correctly otherwise you will have temperature fluctuations on different rad zones. While you are replacing the rads it will be a good idea to flush the whole system with a propriety flush chemical that way when you finally get round to install the new boiler you will have less mess in you new rads
