Electric fire in an solid fuel burning fireplace

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.02 PM

An older couple in our village are finding it hard to get the coal in everyday and have asked me if it's possible to remove the central part of the existing Victorian type, tiled arrangement and insert an electric fire (no mains gas available). Is it?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Depending on the shape of the Victorian cast insert there are electric fires available to fit. There may be an LPG gas insert that could be an option which would mean running a pipe in from some bottles and changeover valve outside if that was possible.
