What type of party wall bonding strip to fit with differing tile batten thicknesses

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.38 PM

My adjoining neighbour has re-roofed their side of a semi-detached house and failed to fit party wall bonding strip in between, consequently I have water ingress. My insurer has approved repair, but I'm at a loss whether to fit inverted "T" shape strip or conventional "U" shape lead? type? This is compounded by having differing thickness tile battens between properties. My tiles are old clay type whilst his are fortiscrete doubles, any suggestions welcomed? Add-on info: March 2017. Further to the above, work carried out successfully using flat bonded strip to created secret gully type fix plus mortar support. Two points to mention here:- 1/ as tiles are fixed on each side of properties, there is limited space to carry out repair - so time consuming, 2/ Due to tile pattern, some cut tiles will be narrow in width, the Tyler relocated these off-cuts further away from the secret gutter to prevent wind damage during storm. Very happy with result considering.

Any type of new bonding gutter will do . The closed bonding gutter has no need for sand/cement mortar but can be seen. The flat bonding gutter also known as a secret gutter is cheaper in price and serves the same purpose. Both types bonding gutters have the water check so the difference in tile batten thickness should not make a difference. We prefer the closed bonding gutter like many local councils.
