Windows & Door fitting

moving a small window sideways

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.02 PM

I currently am trying to decide the best way forward with my bathroom design and am seeking advice on most cost effective/ practical option. The current layout does not allow me to have a shower over bath as the screen would run in front of a window ( window partially above a bath). Is it feasible to move a window at all? It is a victorian terraced house. I haven't measured the window as such but it is not a big one (maybe 600mm wide). I would need to move it about 300mm to the side.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Moving the window would entail fitting a new lintel over the existing window opening. It would also involve cutting out the brick work at one side and re building both sides. New internal reveals would also have to be formed and plastered. It is a very simple procedure on paper, but quite involved in reality.
