composite door in conservation area

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.02 PM

I have an 1850s house in a conservation area, but the house isn't listed or anything, it's all wooden single glazed windows and doors right now, and the door swells and is really draughty. I am thinking a new door would help a lot, But I cannot find any info about the process i need to go through, would a door fitter be able to give some advise on if composite doors are a suitable replacement for wood in this case. Also The house is covered in a rough cast white render, would a door fitter be able to fit a door without destroying this around the door. finally.. is the window section the best place to ask this question?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

your best bet is speak to your local building regs officer and see if their is any restrictions on the type of door you can fit, once armed with this approach the appropriate tradesman, i.e window fitter or joiner , without looking at the surround it may not be possible to say what damage may be caused by the removal of the old door. good luck Alex
