Running gas pipes under flooring

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

Can you run gas pipes under floor boards. Looking to reconnect the gas fire in the living room by running a gas pipe from the under stairs cupboard which has the gas boiler in, instead of using the old pipe which travels in the kitchen upstairs, across the house to the main/front bedroom and theñ through the floor down in to the gas fire in the living room.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes it's fine to run a gas pipe under a floor, as long as it is correctly supported and identified as a gas pipe. And tested by a gas safe engineer.

Wrong answer 'Gas Services Scotland' You maybe inadvertently encouraging a home owner to undertake works that as you know should only be carried out by a Gas Safe engineer. You neglected to state another point regarding what fittings are permissible within a inaccessible location! Please show some caution when responding to questions of this nature as they may appear innocent but the consequences could be very serious if they misinterpret your advice or are just simply fishing for answers!
