Typical wall thickness between terraced houses, fitting a tv wall bracket

Hello, I want to fit a TV bracket to one of the walls in my kitchen and obviously as it's a terraced house, this is one of the party walls between the two houses. The bracket would be for a 32" tv. Couple of questions: -What would be the typical thickness of this wall given that it's a 1890's terrace? We can hear next door through the wall, so I'm guessing not too thick! - What type of material would the wall typically be? It's been plastered, so I want to know what kind of bolts to use on the TV bracket. Thanks, Matt

Hello, the typical thickness of an internal Victorian house between neighbouring properties is around 225mm thick ( 9inch) plus ad the plaster thickness to this at both sides so looking around 275mm thick (11inch) approx. The type of material would be hand made or wire cut brick. I would use 75mm in length M10 Thunderbolts with an anchor resin just to be sure as when drilling old bricks they can be a bit crumbly unless you are really lucky. Hello, Based on previous experience, if it is a traditional masonry/ brick and block house it's likely to be 9" solid wall with a plaster finish on either side. That being the case I'd say the wall is most likely brickwork or possibly blockwork. If you have a look in the loft space you will probably be able to see what material the wall is made of as there is probably no plaster applied. In many properties of that age which I have worked on there are gaps in the party wall and so you can see in to check the overall thickness too. I hope that this helps.

Hi if it’s a normal terrace hours it will be single skim on brick and finishing coat on both sides depending on thick unless gable end then double sim plus cavity
