skimming a ceiling after removing artex

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.19 PM

Just wondering if you need to pva/bond a ceiling before plastering, after removing artex. If so what is recommended for the bonding? Will be plastering onto plasterboard.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If you are going to plaster onto the old surface that is underneath the old artex you've removed then yes I would definitely pva the ceiling. If you have put new plasterboards up then you won't need to. Normal pva bonding is fine £10 for a tub in wickes. Hope this helps. J B plastering

Hi Yes you need to PVA any old/existing plaster, if your skimming onto plasterboard this doesn't require PVA. Terry
