Can you add a tiled roof if you use an RSJ?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.19 PM

I am looking to add an extra room (conservatory (ish)) to my house with full length windows along one side. If I install a steel RSJ above to window wall am I allowed to construct a tiled roof??? It will be approx 10×4m with the windows on the 10m wall. The majority of the wall will be full length windows but with wall between the bank of windows and the door, so I effect I can support the RSJ on the wall. (How much wall would I need to support a 3m RSJ??? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Also if you open up the house into the new room you will need a set of glass calculations & heat loss calculations. You may be able to use a steel porthole frame instead of an RSJ which means the piece of wall wouldn't need to be much thicker than a steel post?
