scribing and cutting to fit floor under back panel of kitchen breakfast bar unit

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.02 PM

Our kitchen units are fitted and the breakfast bar peninsula has a panel on the back screwed and glued. We are about to lay an engineered floor that will have an edge along the peninsula panel. Is it possible to scribe and cut the panel in situ so that we can run the floor edge under for a neat finish?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, If you are unable to remove the panel you can use a MultiTool to be able to under cut a clean line along the panel without removing it. If you choose to do it this way the easiest way to achieve a good fine cut to the correct level you require is to use (ideally a waste offcut) a piece of Underlay along with the exact thickness of board you are using to undercut the panel, using these two pieces together will ensure a perfect replica of your finished floor hence providing the right undercut you require for your panel If you use an offcut and not a waste piece ensure to flip the board upside down using the back to run the blade of the multitool on top as your guide. Once you have undercut the panel you will be able to run your floor under allowing your end cuts to be hidden on the other side of the panel. Thanks, Dan D Carter Property Maintenance
