Tiling

How much adhesive and grout do I need?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.38 PM

I'm having travertine tumbled floor tiles layed in my kitchen and hall - total area of 20 square metres. Is there a standard rule I can follow to work out how many kgs of adhesive and grout I'll need to buy?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It would all depend on the thickness of bed (the thickness of adhesive needed to fix the tile)...But a 20kg bag will usually do between 5 - 8 sqms (So 4 bags of 20kg will be enough to do your 20 sqms of tiling, and if all goes well and your floors are level take the 4th bag back and get a refund) For grouting floor tiles its on average 0.5kg per sqm again will depend on thickness of grout line (Travertine will take more because of the thickness of the tile usually 9.5mm or 12mm so a 12.5 kg bag will be ok)
