Damp Proofing

Who to trust when it comes to damp?

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.41 PM

We've just moved into a property that we fell in love with despite the survey suggested there might be a damp problem. Following the survey we got Kenwood to quote and although negotiations with the vendor were unsuccessful in terms of reducing our offer price, we love the property so went ahead. A month in and there are moisture patches on an interior wall that were never visible in the three months from initial viewing to completing on the property. We've since heard that Kenwood (and other chemical injection contractors) aren't necessarily the best to go to as they look to identify problems where there might not be any to increase their fee. Can anyone tell me who we can trust to look at the problem, correctly identify the source of it and remedy it? Thank you!

The best solution would be to take a look at checkatrade.com and ensure that guarantees are supplied for the products and the labor. All BBA Approved products for damp proofing should come with a manufacturer's guarantee (20 years). Along with guarantees issued by the company that do your work, to cover the work. Hi, I would gladly come and take a look for you. We never use chemical injection, it rarely works. We always remove bricks in and out and fit a astic dpc. This is guaranteed to work on rising damp. Damp penetration through the wall and cold bridging is another thing to look at. Get in touch. Shaun

Get a reputable damp proofing company to assess it, make sure they are registered, been trading a while and give insurance backed gaurantees.
