Can you have sun reflecting glass in velux windows?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

We are having a side return extension done in our Victorian terrace and were planning on a glass roof but now worried about feeling like we live in a goldfish bowl with the neighbours being able to see straight in from their upstairs bedroom. So now considering a pitched tiled roof with 3 large velux windows so lots of views of the sky and light but less goldfish bowl-like! But the builder said you can have special glass that is self cleaning and reflects UV rays so it wont get too hot (SW facing) but you cant have that glass in a velux window and therefore it will get too hot in the room. Is this the case?? And would there be a major difference in price between the glass roof option and tiled roof with large velux windows? Thank you!

You can change the units in a velux window. Also you can get tinted glass for your roof, particularly saint gobain. Lee

Yes you can install any glass in a velux as long as it is toughened or laminated.
