Contractor/Builder wants extra money for Nest wireless thermostat

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.01 PM

Hi guys, I'm after a bit of advice. I recently got my 2 bed garden flat fully refurbished and as part of that I got the old boiler and water tank replaced with a Worcester 25i combi boiler. I also got all the copper pipes in the house replaced. I told from the begning that I was going to get a Nest wireless thermostat installed but now the contractor wants to charge me extra £100 for the Nest installation. The thing is he got some guy to come install Nest couple of weeks ago but it never worked properly (Nest didn't control the boiler, I had to turn heating up and down from the boiler controls still). So I've asked the contractor to sort it out and after checking with his Corgi guy he's now asking for extra £100. He's saying Nest is a complex device (more complex than other wireless thermostats according to him!) and the Corgi guys want extra money to sort out Nest. I told him that I am not paying extra money for a wireless thermostat when it should be part of the central heating system installation. Anyway I thought I'd ask you guys for your opinion Couple of other things bothering me: 1. Boiler or the cabinet attached to the boiler vibrates badly often and make rattling noises. 2. Boiler has been losing pressure in the last couple of weeks (ironically since Nest was installed as far as I know). Pressure was set to 1.5 bars and now it's down to .25bars Thanks!

Nest thermostats are not hard to install no harder than any wireless stat. and they are very good when wired in properly, also you should be able to control heating from nest and not have to use controls on boiler, also it sounds like you have a leak if you are losing pressure. thanks Shaun
