Gas Works

Gas supply pipework for a baxi eco elite combi erp boiler

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.38 PM

Have just replaced a Worcester 24i boiler with a baxi and have been told that gas pipework needs upgrade to a greater diameter ( this will cause great disruption in connecting to gas supply). Is this upgrade necessary? Thank you. Bob

The engineer must be gas safe, if he is, then he would have calculated the size of pipe required, so if he says it needs upgrading then it does. Most new boilers do require a bigger gas pipe.

Hi Bob, I would agree with Anonvale plumbing, most combi boilers have a 22mm gas fitting and require 22mm pipe from the meter or where the pipe from the meter branches to feed different appliances ( smaller appliances such as gas fires can use smaller pipe as the demand is less). But it also depends on the length of the pipe required! I am surprised the existing Worcester doesn't have a 22mm feed to it anyway?
