cracks appearing in newly skimmed walls
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.38 PM
I've recently had a plasterer round to re-skim all three bedrooms, hall, landing and stairs. I called him round a week before as I know for sure the plaster has blown away from the brick therefore a skim would not do the job. he came round and advised that I take it back to brick where the plaster was coming away from the wall which I did, he then boarded the parts that he could and floated the rest. he skimmed two of the bedrooms(in which you can see that the plaster is in poor condition) once dry hairline cracks started to appear through the new plaster. when mentioned he said the best bet was to use an external scrim and that should sort it, moaning that he hasn't got the time to board or bond every wall. now that the external scrim has been applied and skimmed I can see and feel the scrim behind it. any advise as to what to do? he's coming back tomorrow to finish off and get paid but I am no where near satisfied with the finish.
