Eggy / sulphuric smell from drains

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.37 PM

I live on the 3rd floor of an old tenement block. Since we moved in (last August) we've noticed a sulphuric smell coming from the drains in the kitchen, particularly when water is draining (coming from the overflow). We tried using bleach and drain unblocker but it has not solved the problem. Occasionally, the eggy smell is also very strong in one of the back bedrooms, where the boiler and hot water tank are (it would have been the kitchen in the original layout of the flat), not sure how/if the two are connected. We'd like to ask our landlord to do something to fix the problem, but we're not quite sure what we should be looking at or what could be done - any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Ethos sounds like a sewerage / drain alteration at hadn't been correctly terminated. You shouldn't experience any bad smells in any property. Get your landlord to check the drains prolonged exposure to these smells can affect your health Regards Roger
