PVA stains who sorts them out?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

Have had a full renovation done on a house. Paid builder £8000 and still yet to pay £1600 as kept rest behind until completion. He will be finishing this week and I have notice a lot of PVA stains on walls since having a mist coat. I asked him about them and he said they will sand off.. Who is responsible to get rid of them? Will they just sand off?a

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

To be honest, if your builder has left PVA stains.. In my book as a tradesman, its the builders responsibility. If your walls are just plastered with no paint on them, dont even bother sanding them, just wallpaper or paint over it, it should not make a difference. If your walls are wallpapered then be ready to re wallpapers the walls which have PVA on. If your walls are painted then repaint the whole wall, it will stand out a different colour as paint dulls over time. Hope this help, Luke @ LR Landscapes

This is one of my pet hates. Yes the PVA will sand off, it must be sanded as it won't paint over easily and it will leave a bump. When i accidentally drip PVA on a wall i quickly brush it with water and clear it off a wall, as I'm aware how much effort it takes to remove once dry. however it is very common for people to leave this kind of thing for a paint and decorator to fix.
