Replacing felt flat roof
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.31 PM
I currently have a felt flat roof which has started to leak and there is some pooling of rainwater. I have been advised rubber, asphalt and fibreglass by different people. What is the best material to use? Thanks

Fibreglass (GRP), closely followed by EPDM. Both materials will be guaranteed for 20-25 years with an anticipated life of 50 plus.
GRP Is better for balconies but more expensive and takes longer to fit.
If over an habitable room then you need to consider a warm roof to comply with building regulations C & L

A correctly fitted fibreglass roof will outlast any other material currently on the market. If you fit timbers to the roof first then infill with insulation before fitting structural roofing boards (osb3) then you will also have an insulated/warm roof
