free standing bath waste

The chrome waste supplied with the free standing bath has no trap and runs horizontally out from the bottom of the bath. How can I make it go vertically down through the floorboards. should it have a trap ? should I use flexible pipes for waste & water, with a chrome cover? have I been given the wrong kit? Chris Hislop

It'd be best to use 40mm waste fittings for the bath outlet and you can also elbow down into a straight and if your bath connection uses a 32mm waste you can always put an adaptor fitting to get to 40mm so it makes draining a bath more easy, no its not necessary for a bath to have a trap, they make universal kits, not sure what one you have but best to make it up yourself with pipe work cant really go wrong that way, and flexible waste pipes do help in awkward situations and would advise to have one on standby most definitely.

all baths need to have traps on the waste otherwise you will have smells coming back from the drain or soil stack that it connects to.
