Chimney & Fireplace

Open fire or log burner after chimney breast removal.

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.01 PM

Hi all. I am in the process of purchasing my first house and have promised myself an open fire or log burner once we move in. It is a 30s terraced house and currently has an electric fire. Now the valuer has been round today and has confirmed that the chimney breast has been removed, however there does still seem to be one there, just not as big? As in there are alcoves in the front room but they are only about 1 foot deep as opposed to the 2-3 foot they usually are? Please can someone in the know tell me if it is still possible to have my open fire, or have my dreams been dashed before we even move in... Thanks very much.

It may be possible to have a woodburner installed once you open up the fireplace, but this would depend on how big the flue is to be able to get the flexible liner installed.
