How to reduce noise from Nuaire MVHR system

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.01 PM

I've just moved into a new home that has a Nuaire MVHR system installed, with vents in every room. I've been old I need to have this running 24/7/365 to prevent dampness as the house has no other ventilation (e.g. no window vents). The noise from the vents is a bit annoying, particularly in the living room and bedrooms where there is always a sort of hollow wind noise. Is there any way to fit some sort of noise reduction material in or around the vents to make this quieter without obstructing it?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The noise you are experiencing is from the movement of the air through the actual vents and not the machine. Get the manual for this machine and look up how to put it on low speed or 'trickle'. Failing that , change the vents to more open ones to reduce the air restriction.

Mvhr installation can be noisy only when ductwork is made by the cheapest way. Developers contractors often don't care what I saw many times. "Paper will take anything" First go to manual Set it to lower speed If possible make ( proper) ducting to achieve good low noise air speed. Going to low power isn't a solution. In many cases it will take any sense of mvhr away. Installation must be balanced
