Only getting a short blast of water then lose pressure in shower.

I will try to keep this as short as possible. The problem: I turn on the shower and I get a short blast of water maybe 5-10 seconds then it slowly loses pressure until there is just a dribble. History: Lived in the house for 2.5 years and the above issue started about 6 months ago, however in January my boiler kept locking out and we had intermittent heating, the hot water rarely worked at all but sometimes the hot water was tepid. However during this same period the shower that is/ was not working started to work again as far as it had lots of pressure again. Eventually the issue with the boiler was fixed, a pump was replaced which was not working and was causing the boiler to lock out. The layout: The boiler and Systemate tank are on the ground floor. The location of the shower that does not work is on the 1st floor, the sink in the same bathroom works fine. There are 2 more bathrooms on the 2nd floor and they both work fine. Any advice would be greatly appreciates on potential causes, I may try to switch off the boiler for a few hours and let the water get cold to see if the pressure comes back ? Additional info: It is a mixer tap. I emptied the hot water tank yesterday and the pressure came back fine when the only water in the tank was cold. The pressure then came back. I have a feeling this may mean that the problem is with the cold water feed as I think only hot water is coming from the tank and when it's too hot it switches off. But would this a replacement module in the mixer tap?
