new roof regulations dont understand it never really took notice

Hi people Ted here the question I won't to ask is do roofers apply to the builder regulations a man told me today that I need to apply to some sort of regulation thing but I'm gonna be honest I have never done eney regulations when I have put a new roof on so need help thanks

Basically not sure where you live but in wales if you re roof a property we have to inform building control( local council) where they state what youcan use ie if its a slate roof replace with slate cause people have been stripping roofs in a slate roof area and replacing with tiles and once a few have done this it looks out of character within the area

On new roof covering either flat or pitch you gave to comply with approved document C and L, therefore building control need to be involved in the works.
