Roofing

leak on roof hard to fix

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.37 PM

We live in an old victorian terrace property. Mine and my neighbours roof are at the same level. We have a leak coming in down, the cavity wall. We have just gone halves on removing the coping stones and laying new felt and a bonding gutter. It's still coming in. The roofer has just said I need a new roof and nothing else can be done, due to not having enough over hang on each tile. The rest of roof isn't leaking. We have had it looked at several times. What else could be causing it. When the roofer took the coping stones off and old felt. We thought we had cracked it. He saw the beam and the top of the cavity wall. There was a water mark. I have seen pictures of the new felt and it clearly shows the cavity wall, covered in new felt about 1 metre on each sides of roof. The wall dried out at first due to no rain and boom it happened again. Its only hitting same areas on wall. It's not condensation as we have tile vents and there are no pipes. I'm at my wits end.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi , can be tricky trying to find the source of the problem but a new roof seems a bit rash, but cant comment to much because I haven't seen it, however a good old fashioned way of seeing how the water is getting in is to get some one back on the roof and spray the area with a hose while someone is in the loft to find the exact entry point, hope this helps
