Ease of repairing burns in UPVC window surround?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.01 PM

We have found about six cigarette/ roach burns in three of our UPVC double glazed windows after friends stayed with us. The burns are in the UPVC 'strip' surrounding the frames rather than the window frames themselves. The windows are fairly new too. I am supposing that the only way to repair the burns is to cut out the UPVC strips affected (these are sealed in place with waterproof sealant) and replace them with new strips and then make good ie re-paint our windowsills as these will no doubt be damaged when taking out the UPVC. Is this the case? Is it expensive to do?

Replace the cloaking fillets, they're about £3.50 for a 45mm wide by 5 meter length. The best thing to do is remove them first, then measure the widest part of paint damage & buy the next size up cloaking fillet they start at 18mm wide upto 95mm wide. Lee
