Zinc cladding for dormer roof extension or alternative materials

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.53 PM

Hi I am having a dormer roof extension and the architect has specified zinc cladding. From doing some research it seems like a specialist and expensive area. Does anyone have any experience in alternative materials? Open to all suggestions! Thank you Chris

How about GRP (fibreglass) - you can get any colour finish and you could add some simulated lead roll details to make it look a little different - will be less expensive with a 25 year guarantee (anticipated 50yr +). See my website regarding lead roll details in GRP. regards Drew @ Fibretechs - Gloucestershire

There are lots of cheaper materials that have the same outcome and finish. Architects are loving Zinc Roofs/cladding at the moment, they last over a lifetime and are maintenance free, when installed correctly. And it also gives a new modern look.
