electric cooker safety chain

I'll stand corrected but as far as I am aware the safety chain on the rear of a cooker is a legal requirement under Gas regs for a Gas cooker to prevent the cooker being pulled out and damaging the gas pipe feeding the cooker. I'm not aware of it being a legal requirement for an Electric cooker but needless to say if it's a free standing cooker and comes with a "safety device", for want of a better term, I'd use it. Should a disaster happen a manufacturer will argue that their product wasn't fitted correctly. Hope this helps.
