Can damaged/slipped tiles cause severe condensation all over the house
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.31 PM
Since moving into a 1960's built house, 2 years ago we have had nothing but problems. Walls were severely blistered and flaking when we moved in. To cut long story short we had certain walls re-plastered and decorated through out. Our first winter was horrendous. Front door is no good but housing won't correct it. We have heating on in every room in winter, we ventilate every morning by opening the windows for anything from 20 mins to an hour, as the windows and window sills are saturated with condensation. Our bedding and clothing is also damp. It's extremely uncomfortable to sleep due to cold and dampness of bedding even though the bedrooms are warmed up to 20/21 degress. And most nights have to sleep on settee. It's making me and son ill. i'm in remission of cancer plus many other health problems and really cannot take anymore. The humidity ranges from 70 to 85 in winter and very rarely gets below 70 in summer. We always use extractor fans in bathroom and kitchen, plus windows open when cooking and showering. We have noticed daylight through the loft in number of places around the edge of the roof and the felting feels damp. There is even cold air blowing out from behind piece of wood on internal wall next to front door. Some of the holes we can see in the loft are situated above front door and also the bathroom. We now have water coming along the bathroom wall and down electrical trunking but again the housing will do nothing. We cannot do anymore to try and stop all these problems . We never put wet washing on radiaitors. Our tumble dryer is vented by hose which hangs 4 foot out of window. I even paid out for a dehumidifier but it doesnt stop the condensation. We think its becase of these gaps in roof that water has gotten down between the cavity walls and has made the hose damp for last how many years before we even moved in. Looking in the loft there is also part that has no insulating over and a pile of rubble, etc there. All our expense and hard work of decorating is now getting ruined. Even in August when it rains we get condensation. When it rains or is freezing temperatures then we see the walls get worse and the humididty reader rises. It must be a problems with the roof or bricks but no one will help. The composite door is horrendous and we have had to put up with severe drafts also it also drips with condensation. Yet, according to the housing this is normal...i know it isn't We are desperate to trya dn sort the problem out otherwise we are going to have try and find somewhere else to lvie after putting every penny into this house wher ewe planned to live for many years. Any advice wold be helpful but please don't say ventilation as we do it every single day without fail. Thanks
