Filler for drill holes - Best performance

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.18 PM

Hi, I'm dealing with quite a few drill holes (stopped counting at 20 in one wall). Party walls are concrete and the rest seems to be gypsum plasterboard. Most reviews I see of fillers praise the finish (guessing written by painters) but I don't think it's that relevant as I intend to have a skim coat done or level the area with a plaster repair product. What I'm more worried about is how robust they are if drilling in the same spot. Products I've come across: - Polyfilla Deep Gap - Ronseal Filler Big Hole - Toupret TX110 Has anyone tried several and worked out which one performs the best? Thanks

Hi As you are planning to over skim the walls to make them level, I would just first full the holes before hand, once this has been completed then plaster the walls you require. With regards to re-drilling for fixtures and fitments you should be fine, if you find yourself drilling in the same area as long as you take time in drilling and let the drill/drill bit do the work so the filler/plaster doesn't blow. Also if it seems like drilling the new hole is not working out to plan living, you can purchase a number of wall plugs that can help and also hold the fixtures/fitments you may require fitted. Hope this helps. Many thanks Howard Burns
