insulating a pitched roof in a house with exposed beams

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

I'm looking to add roof insulation to an old detached property with the upstairs rooms in the loft space. The roof is currently uninsulated. I want to add above rafter insulation, retaining the existing slate tiles where possible. I guess the best solution is thick sarking insulation with counterbattens to prevent moisture build-up. The house is in a rainy and exposed part of England, is this the correct approach?
