boiler losing pressure during cold weather

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.36 PM

Durin cold weather our boiler loses pressure over night. It is fine during summer and when heating is turned on. Its an intermittent fault, it doesn't always happen which is annoying. When plumber came to service boiler i pointed out a small pool of water inside the boiler to him. He said it is diverter valve leaking. Could this be true? Or is something else possibly going on?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

When a boiler loses water it is usually one of two things, one, a leak some where possibly a radiator or valve or as your service engineer mentioned the diverter valve. Another possible reason could be the expansion vessel generally within the boiler needs re-pressuring (although a good service will include this)
