Electrical

Extractor Fan (Manrose Quiet) in Bathroom

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.01 PM

Please can I ask the experts a simple question as am confused about the fans activation! I had an electrican fit about 2 months ago a Manrose Quiet extractor fan. It activates via the light switch and has a timer and humidistat. I couldn't understand why it did not activate by the 'humidity' alone and have been advised that it needs the light switch turned on first to activate it from the outset. Can someone confirm this is true as would explain why I have been in the bathroom, with hot tap running, and lots of steam but the fan didnt come on (the light was off). Thank you, Paul

Sounds like it's not wired correctly, as you turn on the light a live current is sent to turn on, once you turn off a permanent live feed should allow the fan to work on the timer for up to 20 minutes, also once the fan is switched off, as soon as the room has a high degree of humidity the humidistat should set the fan in motion. Hope this helps

If wired correctly then the fan should switch on when bathroom humidity goes up without the light on. The fan has a humidity control that can be adjusted up and down. It could be this that needs adjusting, but don't try this yourself but get the electrician back to sort out.
