Restoration & Refurbishment

Prospective buyer - Refurbishments / restoration

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.18 PM

Do builders / tradesmen ever view properties with prospective buyers with a view to giving a high level estimate on the cost of refurbishment / restoration works? With an agreement to being one of the few people invited to tender for the work if the purchase goes through. I'm a first-time buyer and would be disappointed to have to pass on some potentially great properties because of a lack of experience in developing properties. I viewed one last week, that would need a complete do-over but would definitely need some professional opinions / advice before deciding if the price was right. All opinions / experiences welcome. Thanks

Simple answer is yes. This is defiantly something that we as a business do and have done on a couple of occasions in the past. Our directors between them have over 20 years experience in the building trade

Yes, absolutely. We offer this service to house buyers, and have done many. Expect to have to pay for the builders time, contrary to many clients beliefs our time is valuable! the best advice i can offer is find a builder you trust with a proven track record, the advice he will provide you with is invaluable.

Yes, an experienced eye can point out the scale of issues which need to addressed and can advise on order of works, design etc. But expect to pay the experienced for time and travel…

At last a responsible house buyer. We carry out Thermal and damp inspections for prospect buyers and advise on restoration and costs. Many properties before sale are what is said botched up for sale. A good Honest builder should be able to help .
