Damp Proofing

A bad smell in a room - I cannot find the reason

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

I am looking for someone to diagnose why an upstairs bedroom which faces the back of the house has a bad smell. I bought the house and moved in about 12 weeks ago and have no clue why it smells. Who can help me diagnose and fix the problem??

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

A lot of older houses with elderly people had commodes, try to spray the floorboards with a diluted jeyes fluid

There could be a lot of reasons why the room smells it could be dampness or it could’ve been emulsion that’s has went off and the people have used it before you bought the house.I would try sealing the room with an oil based undercoat then emulsion it if the smell is still there it could be the floorboards. I hope this helps thanks Andy
