how do I find a leak?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.00 PM
I live in a 2nd floor flat and since the beginning of last week my downstairs neighbour has been complaining about water coming in, we think from my shower, however all of the pipe work is under the floor in the gap between my flat and hers. I have re sealed the shower and re grouted the bottom few tiles but the problem is not fixed. So it seems it must be the pipe, is there any way that this can be dealt with without the entire of my floor coming up?

The other possibility is to take her ceiling down. Admittedly this is also a lot of work but if you have vinyl or tiled floor this can be easier. Do you have a raised shower tray or is it flat to the floor/walk in?
If there is no movement in the tray, you have re sealed and grouted and are sure it is not this; then the only option is to look elsewhere ie under the shower.
Side note: I have had electric showers spraying water out of the back and down the plasterboard when switched on. However to check this I would call a proffesional due to the water + electric danger.
Of course without being there myself it is always hard to advise but I hope this information helps.
