Mould in Garage of New build House

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.53 PM

Hi Guys, I bought a new build house in the summer, and over the weekend found a large area of mould growing on the floor and walls in the back corner. Most of my items in the garage now have mould on them. My builder (St Modwen) state that it is nothing to do with them and not there fault. I told them what the worst affected items (BBQ and Bike) and they said that I shouldnt be storing those items in the garage (who doesnt store there bike and BBQ in a garage or shed?) Should St Modwen be sorting this mould out? or is it something that they can palm off? what should I do you get rid of the mould and stop it coming back? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Detached garages ie single skin, will be very porous and sadly that's how it is. No real building regs. Integral / double skin, ventilation possible cavity issues.

Mould is caused by our living habits creating above 63% relative humidity! ventilate or paint in anti mould paint
