If Tradesman/builder goes bankrupt, should his insurance pay off for faulty work ?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.32 PM
For example, I had my windows refurbished. Some of the work was not well done. The builder came and said would have to come back to re-do a few things properly. Now he's gone bankrupt. The work is under warranty for 12months. Should his insurance pay for the work already done ? Can I get anything from any of his insurances ? (liability, etc, etc) thank you

Hi
if you have an insurance backed guarantee for the work completed by the builders it should cover the work when companies go insolvent.
Did he show you a copy of his current insurance company ? do you have any details ?
He sound like a bodge it and leg it company

Send in a claim against him for the amount you need to put his work right you will become one of his outstanding debts the receivers will then if there is any money left give you a share and you can also go to the creditors meeting and give him some stick about the way he has treated you and a swift kick in the
hope this helps Kelvin

If the builder has genuine insurance to cover this type of thing then you may get something sorted.
Best to contact the builder and his insurers.
