My builder has left and the job isn't complete

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.36 PM

Hi Our builder has finished our first floor extension above the garage and left (we paid in full trusting him), now when we call him back, he doesn't want to know. He has left the gutters leaking, the leak near the side door from the wall every time it rains, the insulation doesn't seem right, the window lets cold air in leaving our bedroom extremely cold. We have to have a heater on if we want to use it. The purlin roof support doesn't look right either. The inspector has signed it off but he never checked everything and didn't go in the loft. The partition wall to the ensuite is bent and the floor, which we only found out when the bedroom furniture was fitted! We need help but don't know where to go. Any advice or pointing in the right direction will be greatly appreciated. It has been a terrible experience and a time of stress. Thank you.

Send him a letter explaining the problems If you receive no response send a following letter giving him a 2 weeks to reply or you will have no option to have the repair work done and send him the bill The other option is to go to the small claims court But i think he may turn up if you send the letters
