Repair to wooden kitchen counter
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.31 PM
Hi, We have just moved out of a rented flat and had professional cleaners in to do an end of tenancy clean. However, not sure what caused it but there is now a very visible mark on the wooden countertop in the kitchen. To me it looks like a chemical mark that has lifted some of the varnish away, leaving a ring mark. They've said it wasn't them and is an old burn (it is definitely not). As we will now be liable for this mark I wanted to know if there was a way to repair it without having to replace the work surface (our landlord is quite picky about this stuff). I have no idea how much work would be involved... could it be simply repaired using a paint/varnish that matches the wood or would the who surface need to be sanded? The countertop is original to the flat (built in 2000) so I would expect a reasonable amount of wear to it, but this is quite noticeable. Any advice on how to repair would be appreciated! Thanks!
