Asbestos corrugated sheeting in utility room roof: replace or cover?
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.31 PM
A couple of days ago I've notice what appears to be asbestos corrugated sheeting in my utility room roof, just below the 4in concrete roof. I spotted it from the outside, through a gap in the wall at the top, where water is leaking in. Due to the leaking roof, the wooden ceiling boards need to be replaced. This will obviously expose the asbestos sheet/s, which due to their age (house built in 1930s) may not be in a very stable state. I guess my questions are as follows: 1. should I aim for removal of the asbestos or cover it up again? 2. I know technically I could do it myself but I'd prefer to hire someone to replace the ceiling due to mobility issues. Should I aim for a roofer or other trade, e.g. refurb/restore? Thanks in advance for any advice.
