bathroom dimmer switch with extractor fan

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.18 PM

Hi and thanks in advance for your response. My bathroom currently has a single light switch (which is on the outside of the bathroom) which turns on both the light and the extractor fan. The extractor fan comes on intermittently without the light turned on. I would like to convert the single light switch to a dimmer switch. The light fixture is dimmable. If I swap the light switch to a dimmer switch, will the extractor fan come on as normal even when the light fixture is dimmed low? Can you you help me understand how this will work properly? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Yes this shouldn't be a problem, by the sounds of it the extractor fan has a another live making the fan stay on timer. Please make sure the light circuit are off before replacing the switch. Please feel free in asking anything else.
