Gas back boiler not heating hot water tank

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.00 PM

Hello, Please could someone help...I have an old back boiler which seemed to be working fine until now. It looks it is not heating the hot water tank. The radiators are hot. I only have one setting if the CH is on the HW has to be on as well as there is no option to only heat HW. It has been working fine until 2 days ago. When I turn on the electric emergency switch the water tank gets hot. Any suggestions what might be wrong? Thanks

Hi It sounds like it may be air locked on the pipe work going to the hot water cylinder, this can be because you have a leak somewhere on system and air is entering the system , ie maybe a radiator, also check to see if the feed and expansion tank has got water in as some times the ball cock can stick and over time the water level drops due to evaporation then air gets sucked in to the system. Hope this helps John.
