Stripping of Walls

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.53 PM

When sanding or stripping painted walls in a bathroom, if there are a number of painted layers, is better to strip all the layers off as far as the bare walls? Once done, is it then better to user a primer before using bathroom paint?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If the layers are flaky I would scrape the loose paint then give a good sand down fill with easy fill sand again then prime the wall You will possibly need to spot fill again then prime again with your top coat which has been diluted 10% WITH WATER

If the paintwork is in good condition then no. If flaky then remove loose stuff. If needed then fill. Once filler is dry rub down. Apply a mist or slightly watered down coat to filler and any bare plaster. Then paint with a neat coat or two. You might find that you need a bathroom paint or silk if you have further problems. Thanks David
